“The film is an evolving journey through a subtle push and pull between masculinity and femininity, captured entirely in one unbroken shot, utilising in-camera camera effects in a world populated by out-scaled physical props inspired by Faye Toogood’s in store realisation of Agender,” says director Kathryn Ferguson. “This film has come at a time when important conversations about gender fluidity and non-binary ways of being are finally getting a lot of attention.”

The cast of dancers and performance artists are all styled in Agender brands available at Selfridges, including Nicopanda, V Files, Yang Li x Genesis P-Orridge, Bodymap and Rad Hourani.

This past February via Smalltown Supersound, the inimitable Neneh Cherry released her first solo album of new material in over 16 years. Produced by Four Tet, a collaboration with synth-drum duo RocketNumberNine, and featuring a special appearance by Robyn, Neneh Cherry’s Blank Project is, as Rolling Stone describes it, “music that beats its own path, brilliantly.” On 2^nd November a double CD, deluxe edition of this album, featuring remixes by Ricardo Villalobos, Joe Goddard, Cooly G, DJ Spinn, Loco Dice, Matt Karmil was made available.

After presenting videos for album tracks, “Out of the Black” feat. Robyn and “Everything,” Neneh is now proud to share a new video for “Spit Three Times,” premiered this afternoon via The FADER.

Directed by Bafic, the film visually captures Neneh’s battle with unforeseen loss after the passing of her mother. “I am a fighter and I fought back from the edge of hell,” says Neneh. “Bafic captures this fight with his imagery, especially the flowers and the long motorway (freeway) underpass shots.”

Neneh will kick off 2015 with her first performance EVER in New York at the Highline Ballroom on Friday, January 9^th, joined by her band RocketNumberNine. This will only be her third time playing in North America, following her performance at the Pitchfork Music Festival this past summer. Tickets are available for purchase here.

Forget the Queen’s speech, as this Christmas Day as Neneh will be taking over two hours of programming on BBC 6 Music after being named one of their Three Wise Women alongside musicians St Vincent and Alison Goldfrapp.

Her show from 4pm – 6pm, will include a specially curated playlist of personal favourites and will feature one hour of live sessions from the BBC archive. She will also be choosing her top moments from the ‘First Time With’ series and one show from the Iggy Pop catalogue.

On being chosen to take part Neneh said “The BBC has a vast library of music and documentaries, so to have access to this world is a dream come true, or maybe the best Christmas present ever! A journey through the left field, new school, old school, now, and the future.”

On what would have been his birthday week, members of the Cherry family presented an NTS Live radio show called ‘Relativity Suite’ all about the life and music of Don Cherry, Neneh’s stepfather and iconic trumpet pioneer.

Presented by daughters Tyson and Naima alongside Neneh’s 10 year old grandson Flynn (aka Dr Salad), the one hour show included rare interviews, archive audio and a family look in Don Cherry’s work.

In aid of the Small Steps Project that helps families living on landfill sites across the world, Neneh Cherry will be auctioning off a pair of her own customised Adidas Originals designed by Jeremy Scott.

The size 7 trainers, on which Neneh has written ‘don’t give up’ and ‘keep on going’ all over, are synonymous with her style and will be available for bidding until 30^th November via the Small Steps Project website.

Neneh is not the only person taking part in the charity auction with the likes of Sienna Miller, Nicholas Holt, Terry Jones, Nicole Richie and Rudimental all donating footwear to the auction.

A much anticipated video for Neneh’s ‘Spit Three Times’, directed by Bafic, will be following soon.

Through summer 2014 she brought her acclaimed new work to the world’s finest festivals (Field Day, Pitchfork Festival, Sonar, Oya, FOR, Meltdown at The Southbank, Festival No 6) and today announces a new UK tour for January 2015. At the same time she announces the next single taken from the album ‘Spit Three Times’ released digitally on October 26th available on 3rd November.

‘Spit Three Times’ is a reminder of what thrilled, surprised and wow-ed listeners earlier in the year. Produced by Four Tet, Neneh’s vocal is backed by just two instruments, the skeletal drums and synth duo of RocketNumberNine AKA Ben and Tom Page. The result is a brooding backdrop to explore the distressing themes of loss, love and the ‘black dog’ of depression.

The sound nods to anarchic free jazz, post-punk, sound system culture and the trip hop Neneh was so instrumental in incubating. Her and husband Cameron McVey famously paid Massive Attack and Portishead a wage out the proceeds of worldwide hit ‘Buffalo Stance’ so they could survive while recording their debut albums.

Neneh’s return has been hailed as one of the most creative chapters in an already fascinating musician’s career.
