This past February via Smalltown Supersound, the inimitable Neneh Cherry released her first solo album of new material in over 16 years. Produced by Four Tet, a collaboration with synth-drum duo RocketNumberNine, and featuring a special appearance by Robyn, Neneh Cherry’s Blank Project is, as Rolling Stone describes it, “music that beats its own path, brilliantly.” On 2nd November a double CD, deluxe edition of this album, featuring remixes by Ricardo Villalobos, Joe Goddard, Cooly G, DJ Spinn, Loco Dice, Matt Karmil was made available.
After presenting videos for album tracks, “Out of the Black” feat. Robyn and “Everything,” Neneh is now proud to share a new video for “Spit Three Times,” premiered this afternoon via The FADER.
Directed by Bafic, the film visually captures Neneh’s battle with unforeseen loss after the passing of her mother. “I am a fighter and I fought back from the edge of hell,” says Neneh. “Bafic captures this fight with his imagery, especially the flowers and the long motorway (freeway) underpass shots.”
Neneh will kick off 2015 with her first performance EVER in New York at the Highline Ballroom on Friday, January 9th, joined by her band RocketNumberNine. This will only be her third time playing in North America, following her performance at the Pitchfork Music Festival this past summer. Tickets are available for purchase here.
